Dates are important in a relationship, no matter what stage you might find yourself in. It’s the perfect way to get to know a potential partner and a great way to just unwind and relax with a current partner. But not all dates are created equally; you get playful, romantic, casual and impromptu dates. Luckily we have the cheat sheet to help you choose the right restaurant for each type of dating situation.
Casual dates are relaxed usually in the day time but not always and are a great way to see your date in a more relaxed setting. This also allows for you and your date to be more yourself versus the pressure of a dinner date in a fancy restaurant.
For the casual date it’s more about having fun than anything else, so it’s important you pick a place where you can take part in an activity that you both enjoy, this could be a sports bar, a beer house or just a casual chill spot in a trendy neighbourhood with great music. This is a great option because the food is normally tapas or finger food style so you can both order a platter and share between the two of you. Either way the food is not so fancy so you can eat with your hands and maybe steal from each others plates.
What makes a date romantic is ambience more than anything, which means you can have a romantic date at any price point. Finding a place that specializes in a particular type of cuisine is important, perhaps your date is fan of seafood, Italian or even Ethiopian cuisine.
It is all about the setting more than anything else, so a restaurant with a set menu option is great because it allows you to budget in advance . Another important thing to look out for when it comes to romantic dates is the ambience, is the lighting dim yet enough for you to stare lovingly into your partner's eyes? Is the music played low to allow for conversation? If you find any places that allows for this, make that your date night choice.
Fun dates are almost the same as impromptu dates, you might not have any real solid plans, you just know that you want to get out of the house. Maybe this involves going out to for a fun activity like paintball, visiting a museum or live music show, so where would you go out to eat after that? A cool roadside cafe or even better grabbing some street-food, some drinks and just chilling ideally outside, just to maintain the carefree nonchalant vibe you had going all throughout the date.
When it comes to dates and picking the right spot make sure you find out what your partner is allergic to what they like or don’t like. This will make narrowing down your choices a lot easier. Always remember what really makes a restaurant or place a great option for a date isn’t how fancy it is or how exclusive it is but rather the ambience. It should allow you and your partner a chance to get to know each other in a fun and stress free manner.
